Timing the board cycle: when to freeze numbers in Hong Kong
6 February 2026
Count backward from the board date. If directors need papers five clear days ahead, freeze consolidation earlier than many teams expect—especially when entities span time zones.
We recommend a soft freeze for charts and a hard freeze for commentary. Soft freeze locks the figures; hard freeze stops wording changes except for material post-balance events agreed with the chair.
Hong Kong public holidays cluster around Lunar New Year and early autumn. Map those onto your annual board calendar in January so January and February packs are not redesigned under pressure.
Company secretaries appreciate a shared timeline in writing. A one-page cycle chart—close, freeze, design, commentary, circulate, meet—prevents silent assumptions between finance and the secretariat.
When Toolkitcorner designs a pack, we align the template to that cycle rather than inventing an ideal calendar that ignores your listing or investor deadlines.
